About Us

James built his first boat at the age of 16 and has been on and around the water since.

​

Initially in the electrotechology segment, James's focus was on the marine industry from a young age where he has owned and refitted multiple personal boats before being involved in the pre-owned brokerage vessel segments.

 

Having had experience dealing with some of Australias most renowned marine brands including Riviera, Maritimo, Cruisers Yachts, Alaska Motoryachts, Palm Beach James has an extensive experience of many different vessels. 

 

Have owned and operated successful shipyard Port River Marine Services as the second generation, covering all aspects of manufacturing, engineering, industrial coatings, underwater coatings, modifications, upgrades, refits, resprays and successfully operating a pre-owned boat brokerage. James split the business in 2023, selling the maintenance business and restablished the retained business as Lenta Marine.

 

Primarily focused on the inflatable and quality marine products segment, to follow his passion and experience in the marine industry and get more people on the water.

Representing Takacat as the Australian Distributor, Highfield as the SA Distributor and representing their own brand Theodore, James continues his story in Lenta Marine.

James really enjoys meeting new people and adding a new element of fun to their lives through boating.

Jim built his first boat at 9 Years old when he grew up in far north queensland. After undertaking his boat building and shipwright apprenticeships Jim worked on timber vessels and undertook major refits and new builds in Innisfail and Cairns, QLD.

 

After moving to Adelaide on a working holiday Jim created relationships with the then SA Government to fit out their range of Pilot Vessels - Some still in operation today.

 

Following this, Jim was instrumental in the early Precision Cruisers and undertook all of their commissioning in SA. Whilst simultaniously undertaking custom timber yacht fit outs for some of Adelaides most respected. 

 

In the early 90's when imported boats became more popular, Jim changed his business model to the repairs and maintenance sector where he established North Haven Boat Builders, this eventually grew to a large team of staff and Adelaides largest repair and maintenance provider under the name Port River Marine Services. Jim passed this business onto James as the second generation where the business grew further.

 

During the early 20's Jim designed and built the Theodore 720 Range of vessels after seeing a neiche in the market for a high end Trailer Boat. This boat went on to win many many industry awards and still represents as one of the leading trailer-boats available today.
