RETURNS POLICY

We want you to be totally satisfied with our products. There may be times when you will need to return a product purchased from our store. Our Returns Policy is designed to assist you with your return.

We offer you a replacement, credit or refund where products have a major failure, such as:

• When they are faulty
• Wrongly described
• Different from a sample shown to you; or
• Do not do what they are supposed to do

We are not required to replace your product if you simply change your mind. However, if you are not happy with your product, our brand manager may, at their discretion, decide to exchange or provide you with a credit note, providing the product is returned to us in its original new condition with proof of purchase. Please let us know if you are unsatisfied with a product you have received from us.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO RETURN A PRODUCT?

Consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law are not limited by a defined time period and can vary from product to product depending on factors such as the nature of goods, price and statements made on packaging and product labels. Our Brand Managers can assist you with further information about the warranty period for the product you return.

EXPENSES RELATING TO PRODUCT RETURNS

Any expenses relating to the return of your product to store will normally have to be paid by you. For online store purchases, we will pay for return freight for any product assessed as having a major failure.

We may need to conduct an assessment of your product to determine whether a repair, replacement or refund is appropriate. Certain technical products may need to be sent to the manufacturer or their repair agent for assessment, such as:

- Kayaks

-Inflatable Boats

Products assessed as having a minor fault will be repaired by the us or replaced at our discretion and returned to you within a reasonable time. We offer a refund or replacement if the product is assessed as having a major failure.

EXCLUSIONS

In some cases a refund, replacement, or repair may not be offered if you:

• Substantially modify the product
• Damage or mark the product
• Misuse the product contrary to user instructions or packaging labels or
• Simply change your mind

CAN I EXCHANGE MY ITEM?

If your product is not damaged and in its original unused condition we may at our discretion offer a exhange to a different stocked item. (Takacat products only exchanged with Takacat products)

Alternatively you can opt for a credit note towards another product which can be ordered in or supplied subject to stock allowances.

Warranty Policy (Australia)

​Congratulations on purchasing your new Takacat Inflatable boat. To ensure fast and easy operation on any future warranty repairs, print and fill out the warranty registration at the bottom of this page. Ocean Portables NZ Ltd (Takacat – Australia), warrants each new Takacat boat to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service.

Claims against defects in materials, parts or accessories are justified as follows.

PVC & Hypalon fabrics are warranted for three (3) years against defects and deterioration that affect usability as ageing, cracking or delamination.

Air filling pipe seams are warranted for two (2) years against defects and deterioration that affect usability as ageing, cracking or delamination.

​Air deck floors (New 1mm PVC anti-Skid protective layer). Material and seams are warranted for two (2) years against defects and deterioration that affect usability as ageing, cracking or delamination.

​Air deck floors (Plane or EVA layer). Material and seams are warranted for two (2) years against defects and deterioration that affect usability as ageing, cracking or delamination.

Parts and equipment including carry handle, D ring, seat, oars, will be free from defects in material and structure for a period of two (2) years from date of purchase (receipt of purchase must be provided).

​Under no circumstances will Ocean Portables NZ Ltd (t/a Takacat Australia) be responsible for incidental or consequential damages in connection with the use of a Takacat inflatable.

Limited liability claims relating in any way to the sale or use of (Takacats), parts and or accessories must not in any case exceed the purchase price of the product to such a claim relates.

This warranty is non transferable and a proof of purchase must be supplied at time of claim.

The following are not covered by or may void the warranty.

• Use of higher power greater than max Hp at HIN plate.

• Over loading.

• Misuse, abuse or neglect, such as improper docking, towing, driving, packing, transport or storage.

• Rental or commercial usage.

• Collision, improper transportation, punctures, tears, abrasions, theft, fire, etc.

• Changes and modifications to the original product.

• Damage, such as corrosion of metal parts due to lack of maintenance, or premature wear due to improper assembly or disassembly.

• Purchase of a demo or used boat.

• Consequential damages.

• Racing.

• Commercial or private live-aboard use restricted to 1 year limited liability warranty​

Ocean Portables NZ Ltd or its authorised representative will repair, or at its option, replace any of the shortcomings described above under the respective warranty periods. In the event of a claim, you must report the defect in writing or by email to Ocean Portables NZ Ltd (sales@takacatasia.com), include the model number, hull identification number, vendor name and a receipt with date of purchase, your contact details and information about what the error or defect is. Pictures of the affected area is also needed to assess the course of action. One of our representatives will contact you to make arrangements that cause as little inconvenience to you as possible.
